Zu diesem Event

The Harvard Club of Munich is excited to invite both its members and the broader community of Harvard alumni to an evening and discussion with Staatsminister Dr. Florian Herrmann. Dr. Herrmann is Chief of Staff for the Prime Minister of Bavaria, Dr. Markus Söder and Staatsminister for “Bundesangelegenheiten und Medien”.

Dr. Herrmann, a lawyer by training, has a distinguished career in Bavarian, German, European and Transatlantic politics. He has been a member of the Bavarian State Parliament since 2008 and was appointed Head of the Bavarian State Chancellery in 2018. In this role, Dr. Herrmann was also head of the crisis team (“Krisenstab”) during the pandemic in 2020. He held or still holds various ministerial positions in Bavaria, is a member of the Bundesrat, of the EU’s Committee of Region and of NATO’s Parlamentary Assembly. Dr. Herrmann also serves on the boards of a number of civil society organizations.

Echoing Harvard’s Jill Lepore’ highly acclaimed history of the United States, “These Truths”, Dr. Herrmann will address transatlantic relations, a timely topic in a year of elections which may turn out to be portents of seismic shifts: Presidential election in the United States, to the European Parliament in Europe and three state elections in Germany.

We are giving the broader community of Harvard alumni early access to register up to 11 February. Given the expected very high level of interest and the experience from our recent events, the event will sell out quickly once it is opened up to associated alumni organizations after this date (e.g. Ivy Circle). As a result, we strongly recommend registering early. Registration can be made as follows:

- Harvard Club of Munich members 30 years old and younger: 35 Euro

- Harvard Club of Munich members 31 years old and above: 65 Euro

- Non-Members of the Harvard Club of Munich: 95 Euro

The registration fee includes admission to the event, as well as food and drinks during the evening. Each Harvard Club of Munich member may register up to one additional guest at the respective rate for the Club member, regardless of the age of the guest or whether the guest is a Harvard alumnus, Club member or not. Non-members may register up to one additional guest at the non-member rate. Cancellation for a full refund will be available up to 11 February.

Please note that registration in advance on Eventbrite is required. As space is strictly limited, only registered attendees can be admitted. It unfortunately will not be possible to register on site.

If you have any questions, or need any additional information, please contact the program team at info@muenchen.harvard-club.de. Please also see all of our upcoming events on the Harvard Club of Munich webpage.
